Chair of the Bar Sam Townend KC delivered a speech at the Institute of Barristers' Clerks (IBC) conference in Leeds on 9 November 2024 on the theme of 'The future of clerking – embracing development together'.
Sam outlined the Bar Council's recent work on fees, international business development, and investment in the justice system. He also updated IBC on the work of the independent review on bullying and harassment at the Bar (chaired by Harriet Harman KC) and action undertaken across the Bar to improve equality and diversity.
Sam thanked all those working in chambers for their support and outlined some our recent activities to provides resources, guides and training on chambers management.
